On September 17, 2026, at the premises of the Matulji Health Center, the kick-off conference of the EU project "Improvement of primary and specialist-consultative health care in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County - Group 1" was held.
The project is co-financed by European funds from the European Structural and Investment Funds in the financial period 2021-2027, within the framework of the "Competitiveness and Cohesion" Programme 2021-2027. The total value of the Project is EUR 1.498.312,00, of which EUR 1.424.343,31 (95%) is allocated as a grant, while the remaining funds (5%) for the implementation of project activities are provided by the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in its Budget.
The Project Lead, or Beneficiary, is the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and project activities will be implemented in cooperation with project partners, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Health Center, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Emergency Medicine Institute, and the public institution "Regional Development Agency of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County", which will be responsible for administrative and financial monitoring of the project implementation.
The aim of the Project is to improve the accessibility, quality and equipment of primary and specialist-consultative healthcare facilities in the assisted and hilly-mountainous areas of the county, through investment in modern diagnostic-therapeutic and medical-technical equipment, vehicles for field work, and computer and office equipment, raising awareness of end users, i.e. patients, about the importance of health prevention, and educating healthcare professionals about access to healthcare without discrimination, promoting gender equality and the rights of persons with disabilities, and unconscious bias.
The equipment being procured will be placed in local government units in the county, which house the clinics of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Health Center and the resuscitation rooms of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Emergency Medicine Institute: the municipalities of Brod Moravice, Lokve, Mrkopalj, Skrad, Ravna Gora, Fužine, Klana, Jelenje, Čavle and Matulji, and the cities of Vrbovsko, Čabar, Delnice and Novi Vinodolski.
The Project implementation period is 20 months, from May 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.
